Okay guys. I am sitting here watching the news and about the only thing the news has to talk about is the playoff game between the Denver Broncos and Baltimore Ravens tomorrow at Denver. Now I am not a die-hard football fan--games make nice background noise for reading, grading, and naps--, but just for fun I guess I will go orange as is the rest of Colorado until Broncomania ends either with a loss during the playoffs or a Superbowl win. In the dead of winter, what else is going on?

It is bitterly cold and it snowed a bit today. There is a bit of a breeze that could easily create blizzard conditions. I spent most of the afternoon playing with my camera. Hubby is in Denver for the evening, so I will retreat to the craft room in the basement and play some more.

I go back to work Tuesday. This semester I will be teaching Tuesday and Thursday and tutoring in the Writing Center Wednesday and Friday. I will have two college research classes, one Introduction to Literature, and an advanced comp class. I feel good about leaving the house to back to work. It was cleaned Wednesday, including the ledge on the wall that separates the living room from the kitchen--we call it the Cat Walk since Mo Cat occasionally finds his way up there to have a walk about. The garage got a bit of a cleaning to make room for a new freezer, and the refrigerator got cleaned out and scrubbed. The laundry is caught up. I am getting bored.

I am enjoying your posts. Everyone is in the mood for spring, posting great pictures of beautiful flower dreams. Elaine over at Ramblings at Rosebank worried about blogger's block then wrote a beautiful post about hyacinths, telling the Greek myth about how the flower got its name.  Go check out her post, especially if you haven't meet her yet.

Well, folks, this is all I got at the moment. Thank you for indulging my team spirit.

GO BRONCOS

  1. Hi Ann! It took us two hours to get home from the airport tonight. Yikes! We are staying inside tomorrow when it is SO cold. Fire needed.
Best wishes as you go back to work!

  2. Hi Ann,

It sounds like you've been smart and caught up with everything at home. I wish I could say the same for here. Our son just went back to college from the holiday on Wednesday, and it seems like it was hard to get much done when he was here. I didn't want him to feel like we were pushing him out the door, but then again, he was bored and anxious to get back to his friends.

I must tell you that I'm a new Broncos fan because I followed Peyton Manning when he was quarterback for the Colts. I think he's a great quarterback and could be a great coach when he stops playing ball. He also has such a funny sense of humor. So I'll definitely be pulling for the Broncos! :)

If you get a chance to visit my blog, I've just posted the second part of my series of posts on our trip to England in 1999. I wrote about London back in August. There are lots of pics of the English countryside, and I know you love England.

Have a wonderful weekend, Ann, and stay warm!!

  4. I can see that you've been having a play with your blog design again - very striking. Snow is threatened here over the weekend whether or not it will materialise is another matter. Thanks for the mention, glad you enjoyed the post.

  5. It certainly looks chilly where you are! We're hoping in our corner of England, to have a cold spell to kill off all the cold and virus bugs that seem to have hit people. But I really dont want ice and snow!

  7. Ann, Love your new look and especially the colors....go Broncos. Peyton Manning is distant kin to me. The game is on now. I wasn't too much of a football fan until the Mannings started playing! Looks really cold there. Have a good weekend, Egretta

  9. We watched as much of the game as we could and then turned it off at 11p with the time difference. Such a shame the Broncos didn't win - we were rooting!

  10. Happy belated birthday. Does that mean you're a Capricorn? If so, same as me. They say capricorns are hard working and easy going. Your snow photos over the holiday period are really super. I see you've changed your blog look as well for the New Year! Happy 2013!

  12. It's been cooler down here this year than last year, but we don't mind. I'm hoping tho that the month of January is cold because that will help the sap to run this spring.

  13. Yes, the garden blogs quiet down a bit this time of year. We are all busy dreaming of next year's garden!

  14. It looks cold, but very serene with the snow coming down :-) We were promised our first snow here in London yesterday, but got nothing. I am not too disappointed though, the chaos following a big snowfall is unbelievable! Happens every year…

  15. Hi Ann
I've missed catching up with everyone. Looks like you have the same weather as us, it's snowed here all day despite freezing temperatures I've been in and out topping up the bird food and water all day.
Thank you for your visit and comments, I really appreciate them.
    Stay safe and warm.

Back in the Swing of Things

Well, hello friends. My only post for the year was in March when I declared, "I'm Back." I really didn't go any place; I ...
